Thrice as Nice: Providence On Verge of Sweep after Walk-off Win
The 24-year-old rookie on the mound turned out to be the least of the Des Moines Demons worries.

Giving a high-pressure playoff start to youngster Bill Phyle seemed like a risky move for the Demons, but it was one of the few things that went right at Messer Street Grounds today. Phyle tossed 7 solid innings, but it was all for naught after Des Moines dropped a 2-1 decision. With the win, Providence took a 3-0 lead in the best-of-7 Round 2.

The game was decided with no one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Providence trailing 1-0, Eric Munson hit a fastball from Roberto Osuna to left for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Clamdiggers had a walk-off win.

"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Munson told the Providence Chronicle.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Messer Street Grounds in Providence.
