Starting pitcher Guy Hecker pitched well enough to help the Tallahassee Pirates beat the Lexington Thoroughbreds, 9-3. Hod Eller recorded the save, making him 1 for 4. With the win over Lexington, the Pirates improved to 42-48.

Hecker provided the big break for the Pirates in the bottom of the sixth inning. With a runner on 1st, he hit a 2-run home run, helping Tallahassee to get the win.

"Nothing fazes Guy," said Tallahassee manager Jay Grandfield.
