Morton Dominant in Lexington Win
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Lexington Thoroughbreds and Tampa Bay Tarpons.
Starting pitcher Charlie A Morton was a major factor in the 1-0 Lexington Thoroughbreds triumph over the Tampa Bay Tarpons. Zach Britton converted his 16th save in 17 tries.
Morton's performance can only be described as masterful. He notched 6 strikeouts in 8 innings while allowing 3 hits. Morton, who is tied for 4th in the HIA with a 3 complete games, goes to 12-5 on the year with 126 strikeouts.
"I threw strikes with all my pitches," said Morton. "I had them eating out of my hand."
The first-place Thoroughbreds, at 73-38, now lead their division by 9 games.
