The Dallas Longhorns took Oakland pitcher Curt Simmons's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Oaks Park. The final score had Dallas getting past the Oaks, 7-6. Simmons went 7 innings and allowed no runs, striking out 7. Oakland's current losing streak is now 5 games.

Dallas needed the clutch hitting of Brian S Giles to notch the win. The designated hitter hammered a solo home run in the top of the 13th inning to put the Longhorns on top, 7-6. For the game, Giles had 1 home run and 1 single in 7 at-bats.
