Oaks Get Hard-Earned Win, Stop Millers, 3-2
|
The Oakland Oaks got a stellar effort from pitcher Aaron Laffey, helping Oakland score a win over the visiting Minneapolis Millers, 3-2. The win was credited to Roy Mahaffey in relief. His record improves to 3-5. Dick Donovan took the loss. Earning the save was Bob Veale. He's now cashed in 2 of 2 save opportunities.
Making an impact for the home team was Herbert Perry. In the bottom of the eighth, the 27-year old third baseman had a run-scoring walk. That made the score 3-2, Oaks.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Minneapolis manager Nick McGlashan. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
Oakland is now 50-51.
