Millers Fall Short at Oakland, 2-1
|
The Oakland Oaks did just enough to sneak past the Minneapolis Millers, 2-1, at Oaks Park. Oakland pitcher Jim Buchanan, in particular, had a standout performance. Oakland reliever Ray Semproch picked up the win, upping his record to 5-3. Jason Hammel was saddled with the loss. Picking up the save was Bob Veale. He's now 3 for 3 in save chances.
Terry Kennedy, the Oakland catcher, contributed a 2-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to make the score 2-1, Oaks. For the game, Kennedy went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"This was a tough loss," said Minneapolis manager Nick McGlashan. "It'll stick in my craw for a while."
With the win, the Oaks have a record of 51-51.
