Pitcher Clyde Shoun was sensational for the Denver Bears in his team's 2-1 triumph over the Oakland Oaks. Shoun picked up the win, and it was well-earned. The winning pitcher was Shoun, now 8-6. He tossed 8 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 3. Scott Alexander was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 9 of 12 save opportunities.

There were several reasons the Bears beat the Oaks, but one factor was Ray Mueller. In the bottom of the seventh, the Denver catcher came to bat and hit a run-scoring single. It staked his team to a 2-1 lead.

"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Mueller.

With the victory, the Bears record now stands at 52-53.
