Denver Dismisses Fresno, 5-2
|
Denver and Fresno duked it out and the Bears came out victorious.
A 4-RBI performance from first baseman Donn Clendenon, who is tied for 10th in the HIN in RBI with 76, led the Denver Bears to a win over the Fresno Grizzlies, 5-2. Joe Niekro, the winning pitcher, is now 5-9. He went 5 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits, while fanning 7 and walking 4. Scott Alexander earned his 11th save in 14 tries.
Denver grabbed the momentum in the top of the fifth, when Clendenon, who is tied for 10th in the HIN in RBI with 76, hit a grand slam home run. His 28th home run of the season put the Bears out in front, 5-2.
"We'll sip on a cold one and savor this win," said Clendenon.
With the win, Denver upped its record to 57-57.
