Longhorns Lose, 7-5, at Bears Stadium
The Denver Bears defeated the Dallas Longhorns, 7-5. Doing his part was third baseman Don Ross, who went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Denver reliever Geoff Zahn picked up the win, upping his record to 5-1. John Butcher took the loss. Scott Alexander got the save, his 13th in 16 chances.

In the bottom of the sixth, Denver left fielder Gene Woodling hit a two-strike fastball to center field for a 2-run single. It put the Bears up, 6-4.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Woodling told the Denver Citizen.

The Bears bumped their record to 61-59 with this latest triumph.
