Witt Neutralizes Firebirds
Minneapolis starter Mike Witt had a strong outing against the Phoenix Firebirds at Nicollet Park. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 2-0 win. Dave S Smith earned his 16th save in 25 chances. The last-place Millers now have a win-loss record of 57-61.

Witt, who was born in Fullerton, California, threw 113 pitches over 8 innings, while allowing no runs.

"The object of the game is to score more runs than they do," said Witt. "Mission accomplished."
