Des Moines Defeats Providence, 2-1
|
Des Moines Demons pitcher Harry Perkowski was in fine form, leading his team past the Providence Clamdiggers, 2-1. The win for the Demons raised their record to 36-18.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the seventh, with the game tied, Mickey Livingston was at the plate when Des Moines scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Demons to go in front, 2-1.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Livingston told the Des Moines Herald. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
