Diamond Dogs March On, Beat Dodgers, 2-1
|
The Albany Diamond Dogs got a good effort from starter Bob Shirley in defeating the Nashua Dodgers at Bleecker Stadium. The final score was 2-1. In 6.1 innings, Shirley surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 10 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Albany has now reeled off 6 straight wins.
The Diamond Dogs got an important contribution from center fielder Joe Riggert, who in the bottom of the fourth hit a slider into right for a solo home run. It was his 12th home run of the season and put the Diamond Dogs ahead, 2-1.
"Every loss stings," said Nashua manager Aaron Miller. "This one is no exception."
