The Harrisburg Ponies and Des Moines Demons riveted fans at Sec Taylor Stadium.

The Des Moines Demons stopped the Harrisburg Ponies, 12-2, behind an impressive performance from Mike C Brown. The 24-year old left fielder made life miserable for Harrisburg pitching. He went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. Ray Washburn earned the win to go to 9-2. He allowed 2 runs on 4 hits, with 3 walks and 9 strikeouts in 7.2 innings of work.

The Demons got an important contribution from catcher Pete Daley, who in the bottom of the seventh knocked a 2-1 curveball into left for a grand slam home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Demons ahead, 10-1.

"We were firing on all cylinders today," said Demons manager Mark Hoffstatter.

The Demons, at 54-23, have a comfortable 15-game lead in their division.
