The Wichita Witches tallied a win at Lawrence-Dumont, throttling the Dayton Marcos, 7-1. Starting pitcher Ross Detwiler was a big reason for his team's success. Detwiler, now 3-5, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 9, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Yes, it was a win for Wichita; but their 16-62 mark is nothing to crow about.

Scott Podsednik dealt the Marcos a blow in the bottom of the fourth. Batting with the bases loaded and Wichita leading 1-0, Podsednik, who leads the AMA in stolen bases with 18, hit a 1-1 fastball for a 2-run double.

Podsednik told the Wichita Observer: "I don't know which I enjoy more -- being a ballplayer or the perks that come with being a ballplayer."
