The Providence Clamdiggers did just enough to sneak past the Dayton Marcos, 2-1, at Messer Street Grounds. Providence pitcher Elmer Steele, in particular, had a standout performance. Bill V Swift notched his 11th save in 11 chances. The Clamdiggers lead the WBL Mid American INDY A - Northeast by 3 games.
Otis Clymer dealt the Marcos a blow in the bottom of the third. Batting with runners on 1st and 2nd and Providence leading 1-0, Clymer, who leads the AMA in runs scored with 80, hit a 0-1 fastball for a run-scoring double.
