The Chattanooga Rats defeated the Long Beach White Sox, 5-4, in WBL Mid National action at Engel Stadium. Chattanooga pitcher Johnny Podres had a standout performance. Chattanooga now has a 3-game win streak.

Hanley Ramirez dealt the White Sox a blow in the bottom of the eighth. Batting with runners on 1st and 2nd and Chattanooga leading 4-0, Ramirez, who is tied for 3rd in the AMN in total bases with 105, hit a 2-2 sinker for a run-scoring single.

"We did enough to win," said Ramirez.
