Karger Helps Bay Bears Beat Flying Squirrels, 2-0
|
Mobile got a first-rate effort from pitcher Ed Karger, who frustrated Richmond hitters en route to a 2-0 Bay Bears triumph at Parker Field. Karger went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 3, and struck out 9. His record improves to 4-1. The win boosts the Bay Bears to 22-24. The loss puts the Flying Squirrels at 21-25.
Karger had no bigger at-bat than in the top of the fourth when the 27-year old left-handed pitcher hit a solo home run. The home run gave Mobile the lead, 2-0. It was his 2nd home run of the season.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Karger, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
