The first-place Trenton Thunder picked up another win.
Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Trenton Thunder and the Shreveport Swamp Dragons. Trenton won it, 1-0. Trenton starter Bill Gallagher was in command. The winning pitcher was Gallagher, now 8-3. He tossed 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 6. John Franco picked up the save, his 14th.
The Thunder got a big at-bat from designated hitter Dib Williams. For the game, Williams went 1 for 3 with a home run. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Trenton a 1-0 lead.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Trenton manager Joel Hueth said.
The win gives Trenton a season record of 34-17.
