The Long Beach White Sox picked up a win at Blair Field, knocking off the Bakersfield Blaze, 6-5. Starting pitcher Bill Stoneman was a big reason why. Long Beach reliever Dan Collins picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Clay Hensley shouldered the loss. Long Beach now has a record of 27-27 with the win.

Ed Swartwood was the walk-off hero for Long Beach. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the White Sox right fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"You come to the ballpark to do your job and that's what I did today," Stoneman told the Long Beach Gazette.
