Bakersfield pitcher Socks Seibold did his part in helping his team beat the Richmond Flying Squirrels, 4-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Tim Leary earned the save, his 1st. The triumph puts Bakersfield at 37-29 for the season.

Terry Steinbach was 1 for 2. He drove in 2 runs for Bakersfield. The 28-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Fausto Carmona. It was his 28th RBI of the season.

After the game, Bakersfield manager Manny Tamez applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
