Late Rally by Swamp Dragons Secures 5-4 Win
|
The Shreveport Swamp Dragons beat the Spokane Bunchgrassers, 5-4, in part because of first baseman Sid Bream. He was 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Justin Wilson got credit for the win, improving to 1-2. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. Bob Reynolds picked up the save for Shreveport, his 12th of the year.
Bream hit a grand slam home run in the bottom of the eighth to help the Shreveport cause. The home run, which was hit off Stew Cliburn, allowed Shreveport to take a 5-4 lead.
"We'll take some time to unwind," said Bream, "and then get after it again."
The win for the Swamp Dragons lifted their record to 35-35.
