The Chattanooga Rats and Honolulu Islanders obliged fans hoping for an exciting game.

The Chattanooga Rats did just enough to secure a victory over the Honolulu Islanders, 5-4, at Engel Stadium. Nobody did more than pitcher Johnny Podres. The winning pitcher was Podres, now 6-6. He tossed 5.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 6. The save went to Felipe Rivero, his 9th this season.

In the bottom of the fourth, Hanley Ramirez delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 1st and 3rd, the Chattanooga first baseman hit a run-scoring single, putting the Rats in front, 5-4.

"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Honolulu manager Josh Hasper. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."

The Rats now own a record of 31-43.
