Guillen Jacks Two Home Runs in 6-4 Trenton Win
|
The Trenton Thunder stopped the Bakersfield Blaze, 6-4, behind an impressive performance from Carlos Guillen. The 31-year old third baseman made life miserable for Bakersfield pitching. He went 3-5 with 2 home runs and a triple, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. The victory gives Trenton a record of 49-24.
Dick Gernert was 3 for 3 with 3 singles and a walk for Trenton. The 29-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and a runner on 2nd, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring single off Tim Leary. It was his 75th hit of the season.
"Enjoyed this one," Guillen told the Trenton Gazette. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
