Elefantes Absorb 6-2 Loss at Honolulu Stadium
|
Honolulu Islanders starter Will Smith turned in a top-notch performance against the Cienfuegos Elefantes at Honolulu Stadium. The result was a win for the Islanders, 6-2. The winning pitcher was Smith, now 5-3. He tossed 5 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 7. The victory gives the Islanders a record of 40-37.
Jim Gentile helped his team take an early lead with a 2-run single. It came in the first inning, making the score 2-0, Islanders.
"Will was throwing free and easy," said Honolulu manager Josh Hasper.
