Sidewinders Resilient in 9-8 Win Over Bakersfield
Despite a great performance by Bakersfield catcher Terry Steinbach, the Tucson Sidewinders defeated the Blaze by the score of 9-8 at Hi Corbett Field. Steinbach went 4 for 5 with 2 home runs and 2 singles. Eric O'Flaherty came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 1.1 innings. His record now stands at 2-2. Tucson, at 47-29, is 5 games up in the WBL Mid National INDY N - West.

With the game on the line, Maury Wills came to bat in the bottom of the ninth. And the Tucson shortstop came through, cracking a run-scoring double off Tim Leary, the Bakersfield pitcher.

"This wasn't a good win," said Wills. "It was a great win."
