The rain did not keep Spokane and Cienfuegos from finishing their game.
The Spokane Bunchgrassers withstood an impressive performance by Cienfuegos catcher Russell Martin to defeat the Elefantes, 7-4, at Estadio 5 de Septiembre. Martin hit 2 home runs. The Elefantes, now 28-51, have lost 5 straight.
Orlando Palmeiro swatted a solo home run for Spokane in the top of the 11th. The left fielder went 2 for 5 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and batted in 3.
"We own our own mistakes," Palmeiro told a reporter after the game. "But we share our victories."
