Tucson rode a good effort from starter Kyle Lohse to beat the Trenton Thunder at Mercer County Grounds. The final score was 4-1. Lohse picked up the win for Tucson, going 7 innings. He gave up 1 run on 2 hits. He now sports a record of 8-5. The Sidewinders bumped their record to 51-29 with this latest triumph.
One important at-bat came with a runner on 2nd in the top of the fourth inning. Facing Trenton hurler Rich W Robertson, Whit Merrifield, who is tied for 4th in the AMN in triples with 3, hit a run-scoring single. The Sidewinders went on to win.
Lohse pitched well, despite being a bit under the weather. "To be honest, I was sick before the game," he said. "Just a stomach bug."
