White Sox Reel Off Another Win, 6-1
|
Long Beach White Sox starter Bill Dinneen pitched his team past the Cienfuegos Elefantes, 6-1. Dinneen went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 6. His record improves to 8-5. Long Beach has rattled off 6 straight wins.
Reed Johnson had a big 3-run home run for the White Sox in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Long Beach trailing 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Mike Cvengros and swatted a home run to left. It was his 7th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the White Sox ahead, 3-1.
"We played hard and won," said Dinneen. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
