Blaze Drop 4-3 Decision
|
The Spokane Bunchgrassers topped the Bakersfield Blaze, 4-3, in WBL Mid National action at Ferris Field. The standout performance belonged to Spokane pitcher and Oakland, California, native Dave Stewart. Picking up the save was Stew Cliburn. He's now 24 for 26 in save chances. With the win, Spokane pushed its record to 44-38.
The Bunchgrassers used some clutch hitting to beat the Blaze, a good example being the at-bat of Kevin Roberson in the bottom of the seventh. With two down, Roberson gave his team the lead, 4-3, when he hit a run-scoring single.
"Nothing fazes Dave," said Spokane manager Tim Marshall.
