The Long Beach White Sox got a superb performance from pitcher Edgar E Smith, but the Bakersfield Blaze still won the game, 5-4. Smith threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball. With the win, the Blaze sit at 48-39.

The Blaze relied on right fielder Gregory Polanco for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the ninth, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal.

"We've got great fans," said Polanco. "I hope they got what they came for."
