Spokane starter Jason Bere had a strong outing against the Honolulu Islanders at Ferris Field. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 4-3 win. Bere went 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 9. His record improves to 6-2. Picking up the save was Stew Cliburn. He's now 27 for 29 in save chances.

Jerry Hairston Jr dealt the Islanders a blow in the bottom of the fourth. Batting with runners on 1st and 3rd and Spokane leading 3-2, Hairston Jr hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single.

"Winning is contagious," said Bere. "We're looking forward to the next game."

The win for the Bunchgrassers raised their record to 47-42.
