7-1 Islanders Win over Bunchgrassers Evens Season Record
The Honolulu Islanders downed the Spokane Bunchgrassers, 7-1. The hitting star was third baseman Mike Hessman. Hessman slugged 2 home runs for the Islanders. Tommy de la Cruz, the winning pitcher, is now 9-5. He went 7.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 9 hits, while fanning 3 and walking 1. The triumph puts Honolulu at 45-45 for the season.

With runs few and far between, the Islanders had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Honolulu came in the top of the sixth inning, when left fielder Manny Jimenez delivered a run-scoring single.
