Flying Squirrels Clip Thunder in Tight Contest, 3-2
|
The Richmond Flying Squirrels scored a tight 3-2 win versus the Trenton Thunder at Parker Field. Richmond pitcher Mike Krukow held his own in the contest. Richmond reliever Gustavo Chacin was credited with the win, to go to 6-1. Tim Burke took the loss for Trenton. With the win, Richmond goes to 38-51, while the Thunder fall to 57-32.
The lead changed in the bottom of the eighth. With a runner on 1st, Richmond first baseman Ryan Howard hit his 31st home run of the year. Tim Burke threw the fateful pitch. Just like that, the Flying Squirrels were in front, 3-2.
"I just try to put up zeroes," said Krukow, "and let the rest take care of itself."
