The Richmond Flying Squirrels managed to get by the Chattanooga Rats, 4-3, at Parker Field. Richmond pitcher Fausto Carmona set himself apart with his performance. The winning pitcher was Carmona, now 3-12. He tossed 6 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 7. Matt Belisle recorded the save, making him 21 for 25.

In the bottom of the sixth, second baseman Orlando Hudson hit a 2-run triple to left-center. The triple, which was hit off of Bob Chipman, gave Richmond a 4-3 lead.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said Chattanooga skipper Ryan Metzler, "and it cost us."
