Benson Lays Hammer Down in 1-0 Win
Fans watched the Honolulu Islanders and the Long Beach White Sox fight to the finish.

In a low-scoring contest, Honolulu pitcher Kris Benson was marvelous in his team's 1-0 win. Picking up the save was Leo Kiely. He's now 3 for 5 in save chances.

Benson earned the win, going 8 strong innings for Honolulu. The right-hander allowed just 3 hits, while striking out 10. Long Beach hitters had little success against him.

"Tough win," said Benson. "We had to earn it."
