Sidewinders Pick Up 4-3 Win Over El Paso
|
The Sidewinders grabbed a win, 4-3, at The Dudley Dome, overcoming a fine effort from El Paso pitcher Gary Gentry. Gentry went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 run. The Sidewinders have an impressive 61-33 record.
Had Whit Merrifield not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Merrifield hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Sidewinders.
"I like what I saw today," said Tucson manager Dusty Cali, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."
