The Chattanooga Rats downed the Cienfuegos Elefantes, 7-1. The hitting star was center fielder Sam Mertes. Mertes went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Rats. Jeff Lahti notched the win in relief.
