Bay Bears Get 6-2 Win Versus Long Beach
|
The Long Beach White Sox and Mobile Bay Bears delighted fans at Hank Aaron Stadium.
The Mobile Bay Bears tallied a win at Hank Aaron Stadium, throttling the Long Beach White Sox, 6-2. Starting pitcher Randy Wolf was a big reason for his team's success. Wolf, now 3-9, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 8, walking 4, and allowing 2 runs. Craig Stammen earned his 18th save in 23 tries.
Ken Landreaux had a big 2-run triple for the Bay Bears in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Mobile leading 3-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Edgar E Smith and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 2nd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Bay Bears ahead, 5-1.
"Randy was able to execute his pitches," said Mobile manager Dave Lackland. "Simple as that."
The Bay Bears raised their record to 36-64.
