Trenton Downs Cienfuegos, 4-1
|
Trenton beat Cienfuegos in a rain-soaked ballgame.
The Trenton Thunder called upon starter Don Nottebart, and he delivered, leading his team to victory over the Cienfuegos Elefantes, 4-1. Nottebart, now 9-9, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 8, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. Earning the save was John Franco. He's now cashed in 31 of 31 save opportunities.
Carlos Guillen had a productive at-bat for the Thunder with one out in the top of the second. With the bases empty, the first baseman hit a solo home run. The at-bat was important in the Trenton win.
"The more wins we pile up," said Guillen, "the more I like our chances."
Trenton is now 65-37, 8 games up in the WBL Mid National INDY N - South.
