Swamp Dragons Win Nail-Biter, 2-1
|
The Shreveport Swamp Dragons got a magnificent performance from pitcher Bud Podbielan, who muffled the Mobile offense en route to a tight 2-1 Swamp Dragons win at Hank Aaron Stadium. With the win, Shreveport raised its record to 62-48.
Both teams had trouble manufacturing runs. So, B J Surhoff's at-bat in the top of the 15th was critical. With two out, the Shreveport catcher hit a run-scoring single, to give his team a 2-1 lead.
"We didn't go down without a fight," said Mobile manager Dave Lackland.
