The Salt Lake City Trappers faced a tough opponent in Denver Bears designated hitter Gene Woodling, but did just enough to pull out a win in Game 1 of the Round 1, which they now lead 1-0. The Trappers won 6-4 at Derks Field, despite the efforts of Woodling, who slugged 2 home runs.

In the bottom of the fifth, Eric McNair delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and the bases loaded, the Salt Lake City shortstop hit a grand slam home run, putting the Trappers in front, 6-4.

"It was a solid team effort," McNair said. "That's usually what it takes to win."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Derks Field in Salt Lake City.
