Wilson, Thoroughbreds Top Trappers in Series Opener, 5-2
|
The Lexington Thoroughbreds started the Round 3 in style today, downing the visiting Salt Lake City Trappers at Whitaker Park by a score of 5-2 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Thoroughbreds right-hander Don Wilson threw 8.1 innings of 3-hit ball.
Wilson, who was born in Monroe, Louisiana, threw 102 pitches over 8.1 innings, while allowing 1 run.
"We're happy," Wilson told reporters after the win. "When you're in the playoffs, you've got to treat every game like it could be your last."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Whitaker Park in Lexington.
