Saturday, April 21st , 2001
Jim King went on an explosive hitting spree against the Norfolk Tides at Robison Field, launching a trio of blasts to help the St. Louis Blues win, 9-2.
The right fielder finished 3-for-4 with 3 runs scored and 5 runs batted in.
"It was just one of those days," King said in a postgame interview. "I don't know how to explain it. I'm just putting a good swing on the ball."
Norfolk skipper Ian Siebert said King was "locked-in."
"We made some pretty good pitches," he said. "Those first two homers were exactly where the pitcher wanted to put them. He's just hot right now -- you've just got to tip your hat to him."
Jim King hit a two-run home run off Ray Fontenot in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Ray Fontenot in the 5th and hit a solo-shot off Brett Tomko in the 7th.
This year, King is batting .270 with 5 home runs and 12 RBIs. In 11 games he has scored 6 times.
