San Antonio-Norfolk Fight Results in Suspensions Sunday, April 29th , 2001 After an intense confrontation, both the Missions Jim O'Rourke and the Tides John Burkett were handed their punishments today. The league commissioner's office issued suspensions for an on-the-field conflict that occurred at a recent San Antonio-Norfolk game. Jim O'Rourke will miss 4 games, while John Burkett was suspended for 6 games. "Sometimes we go too far and have to pay the consequences," Jim O'Rourke commented later. "Hopefully cooler heads will prevail the next time we play." So far this season, O'Rourke has recorded a .379 batting average with 22 hits, 3 home runs, 9 RBIs, 17 runs scored and a .465 OBP. This season, Burkett has no wins and 1 loss and a 3.38 ERA. |
