Redbirds, Kennedy Buzz Dark Blues, 2-0
Sunday, May 6th , 2001
Brickyard Kennedy bent a little, but he didn't break against the Hartford Dark Blues. The Louisville Redbirds pitcher hurled a 5-hit, 2-0 shutout in a fine performance, surrendering 2 walks and tallying 8 strikeouts.
"Brickyard is good at getting out of jams," Redbirds manager Bobby Ward told reporters after the game. "He's almost more effective when he gets guys on base or gets behind in the count, because he uses your aggressiveness against you."
Kennedy has made 6 starts so far this year and put up a 3-1 won-lost record with a 3.17 ERA. In 48.1 innings he has allowed 39 hits, walked 20 and struck out 38.
