Noren Headed for Retirement Sunday, May 27th , 2001 It's a somber day for Rays fans as Irv Noren announced that he will retire at the end of the 2001 season. The Orlando left fielder attributed his retirement to his age and loss of skills. "I'm not the type of player I want to be anymore," he said. "It's harder go out there and be competitive. I'm not at the end of my rope yet, but I've seen guys hang around too long. I'm not going to be one of them." |
