Sievers Goes Downtown 3 Times Against Senators
Tuesday, June 5th , 2001
Anyone wearing a glove and sitting in the bleachers for today's Expos-Senators game had a good chance at snagging a home run ball.
Montréal first baseman Roy Sievers thrice sent eager fans scurrying to catch a souvenir, helping lead the Montréal to a win, 11-10, over Washington.
"Hey, the three homers were great, but I'm just trying to help my ballclub," Sievers said later. "I'm not going out there thinking I need another home run."
Sievers was 4-for-5 on the day with 5 RBI.
Roy Sievers doubled in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Jackie Brown in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Rafael Betancourt in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Craig Stammen in the 9th.
At the moment, Sievers is hitting .371 with 10 home runs and 18 RBIs. He has played in 24 games and scored 13 times.
