3 Boomers for Thomas
Friday, June 8th , 2001
Gorman Thomas went on an explosive hitting spree against the San Jose Bees at Alamodome, launching a trio of blasts to help the San Antonio Missions win, 7-2.

The right fielder finished 3-for-4 with 3 runs scored and 3 runs batted in.

"It was just one of those days," Thomas said in a postgame interview. "I don't know how to explain it. I'm just putting a good swing on the ball."

San Jose skipper Robby Weaver said Thomas was "locked-in."

"We made some pretty good pitches," he said. "Those first two homers were exactly where the pitcher wanted to put them. He's just hot right now -- you've just got to tip your hat to him."

Gorman Thomas hit a solo-shot off Rube Walberg in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Rube Walberg in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th and hit a solo-shot off Aaron Heilman in the 8th.

This year, Thomas has socked 7 hits in 26 at-bats for a .269 average with 5 home runs. He is getting on base at a .321 pace and his totals also include 6 RBIs and 6 runs scored.
