Phillips Announces Retirement
Thursday, June 14th , 2001
Tony Phillips may be retiring from professional baseball, but don't expect him to sit still.
The Toronto Maple Leafs left fielder today announced that this season will be his last. But at age 39, he still has big plans for the future.
"I'm looking forward to traveling and seeing the world outside of WBL Triple A parks. I also want to start taking up some new hobbies and maybe start up a new business, too," he said. "I'm going to enjoy my retirement."
Lifetime Phillips has played in 128 games, batted .239 with 13 home runs and 114 base hits.
