Evans Parks 3 for New Orleans Wednesday, July 4th , 2001 Whatever Dwight Evans ate for breakfast before his game against the Las Vegas Aces, it gave him some impressive power. The New Orleans right fielder smacked three balls up and out of the park at Cashman Field. His home run barrage helped the Pelicans defeat the Aces, 21-4. "When they throw it in your wheelhouse, you've got a shot at a homer," he told BNN reporters after the game. "I got three shots today and nailed them all." On his 3-homer day, he went 5-for-6, scored 5 times, drove in 5 and put on a display that history will remember. Dwight Evans hit a solo-shot off Mike Krukow in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Luis Mendoza in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, struck out in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Jim Nelson in the 7th and singled in the 9th. Thus far this year, Evans has hit .267 with 15 home runs and 38 RBIs. |
